Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How do I know if games are cancelled due to the weather?

A. The season is short so we try our best to play if at all possible.  This means we may not cancel until later in the day.  The easiest way of knowing what the status of the games are is to email games@sbgsl.com you will receive a reply within minutes.

Q. My daughter is 5 but not in Kindergarten can she play T-ball?

A. Unfortunately, she will need to wait until she is in Kindergarten to play.

Q. It is going to be warm this week can my child wear shorts?

A. All players MUST wear the complete uniform including hat/visor that was issued to  them.  The ONLY exception is children coming from a high school game however  the highschool uniform  MUST have pants on and not shorts!  Any children wearing shorts will NOT be allowed to play.

Q. My child is coming straight from their high school game can they wear their high school uniform?

A.  We require the girls to be wearing their SBGSL shirt, make sure they put it in the bag with their school uniform before they go to school. They can play with their high school pants (NO SHORTS)

Q.  Does my child need cleats?

A.  Girls are not required to have cleats, lots of the younger kids love having them but it is not required. The older girls should have cleats for the games. 

Q.  When are the games played?

A.  Games are played Monday – Friday at 6pm and every Saturday between 9am and 3pm.  All games are played behind Flaherty School/South Shore Plaza.

Q.  How often are their games and practices?

T-Ball (Kindergarten) – There are no practices once the season starts prior you may have a few practices so the girls get to know each other and get an idea of what to expect.  Games are one night during the week at 6pm and every Saturday.  You play 3 innings each player will bat each inning and there are no out.  The game is instructional as the girls are learning as they are playing.

Freshman (1st & 2nd) - There are usually no practices once the season starts prior you may have a few practices so the girls get to know each other and work on some basic fundamentals.  Games are one night during the week at 6pm and every Saturday.  You play 3 innings each player will bat each inning however if a play is made in the field the runner is out.  The game is instructional the girls are learning as they are playing and coaches are pitching to them and in the field to help with where to make plays.

Sophomore (3rd & 4th) - There are not many practices once the season starts prior you will practice so the girls get to know each other and they work on refreshing their skills.  They play games one to two nights during the week at 6pm and every Saturday.  You play as many innings as you can fit in with all games being a max of 90 minutes.  The girls are pitching to the batter and there are 3 outs per inning.

Junior (5th & 6th) - There could be some practices during the season depending on the coaches schedule however there are not usually many since they are playing a few times a week.  Coaches try to have the players arrive early before the game so they can have batting and fielding practice.  They play games one to two nights during the week at 6pm and every Saturday.  The girls are pitching to the batter and there are 3 outs per inning.

Senior (7th – 12th) There could be some practices during the season depending on the coaches schedule however there are not usually many since they are playing a few times a week.  Coaches try to have the players arrive early before the game so they can have batting and fielding practice.  They play games one to two nights during the week at 6pm and every Saturday.  The girls are pitching to the batter and there are 3 outs per inning they play 7 innings.
